BET Awards Triumphs & Tragedies
On the Red Carpet at the BET Awards there seemed to be a whole lot going on. Of course here at Fashion Kulture we are all about who the stars were wearing. Let's get down to business and break it down for you.......Let's start with..........
Nicki Minaj wore a a stunning Black Roberto Cavalli Gown. It was formfitting with the right amount of cleavage. The subtle lace detail in the fabric with with the shredded leather at her side accentuating her waist line made for a perfect balance. She accessorized her look with John Hardy Jewelry and platinum blonde bob with dark roots. Although I am pretty sure this is much toned down for our over- the -top Barbie but nonetheless I love this look because with the clothes not being loud we can really see her natural beauty.
Janelle Monae went with a Dolce & Gabbana fitted all white suit that had clean lines and basic palette for her to accessorize with however she chose.What she did choose was a beautifully ornate Katarina Maxine necklace, Norman Silverman Ear cuffs and Neil Lane rings to top it off. For her shoes she went with Jimmy Choo cut out Metallic Sandals and for a pop of color she chose Red lipstick. Janelle always knows to to make classy classics look sexy!
Adrienne Bailon also rocked the carpet with one of the sexier looks for the evening! Adrienne stepped out in a draped one shoulder Michael Costello red gown with a very risky slit that was up to there! She went with turquoise Roberto Cavalli Sandals and matching jewels that tied the entire outfit together. Withe her hair slicked back into a braided bun that allowed the dress to take center stage, she pulled this look off! She DID THAT!!!!
Now There was one look that I did not like and please don't get me wrong because I do support the individual. Gabby Douglas,She is such a darling and a sweetheart that I hate to say this but I do not like this dress on her. It isn't for her athletic body type at all. I will say that the colors creme and black did work together and her makeup is flawless.
Well Gabby, don't feel bad because there is another celebrity i love who hurt my heart too. Lala Anthony, again she is a sweetheart and I love her, I hate to say it but this dress was strong and wrong. She wore Lanvin with shoulder and chest padding up top with some layered detail at the midsection. My issue is that she is already busty, so this type of dress makes her look heavy and it isn't flattering at all. I will say though here cobalt blue pumps are seriously fabulous.
These were some of the major hits and misses. Although there were so many more to get into these were the top five. I want you all to remember that not everything fits everyone's body type so please keep that in mind after reading this post. The goal is for you to look your best while accentuating your accents and downplaying the flaws. We all have them and I will continue to fill you in on tips and tricks to do just that!
